How long have you been making music? Since Primary School but 13yrs-14yrs professionally
Who inspires you? Life itself and the whole life experience. Situations of turmoil, ease, good and bad that comes with it whether I go through it personally or watch others go through them from a distance. It all affects and inspires me and my whole music making/writing process in one way or another.
What influences you? I’m influenced by friends, family members other creative artists of the past and present, known and unknown etc.
What’s the decision behind your image and production name? I’m just me basically. Image wise I don’t try to portray what i’m not or pretend to be somebody different from the person I see in the mirror everyday. No smoke and mirrors. I’m just me. The name is actually a petname/nickname that just stuck and so, I decided to use it as my stage name.
What can we look forward to in 2013? More music
What provides the passion for what you are doing? I’m self motivated but draw from the influences I previously referred to and use those things as fuel to keep the creative engine running.
Most memorable musical moment to date? None comes to mind at the moment really. I just take it all in stride and keep it moving, hoping to accomplish more and make a greater impact in whatever’s next.
Advice to any up coming producers? Be true to music and don’t hustle the music. Learn the business. Be creative, focused, smart, business minded but honest.
What do you think the music industry needs ? Less politics.
What personal musical goals do you have ? Just to do my best and make God do the rest. No one owes me anything so I don’t expect much. I just want to be recognized and respected for my work as anybody else in any field of music or any other profession for that matter. I’m grateful for whatever else comes with that should it come but, I love what I do and that’s why I do it. Recognition and Respect for me is suffice.
Are you musically trained ? Nope.
Who is your favourite artist and why? Too many to name
Who is your favourite producer and why? I respect and appreciate every producer’s work.
who is your favourite sound and why? Stone Love. They still hold a certain standard and have been in the business for quite some time. Before I could even go to a club or dance. The sound business has even evolved to the point where individual selectors are becoming more popular than a sound system and taking their show on the road solo but, Stone Love is still Stone Love to this day.
